Being G-d's Talmid (Disciple) Part 1

If you'd like to buy a CD of this Message, cost is $1.00 + $5.50 S&H

Notes:

Being G-d’s Talmidim

Matthew 28:4

18 Yeshua came and talked with them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore, go and make people from all nations into talmidim, immersing them into the reality of the Father, the Son and the Ruach HaKodesh, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age.”

The Great Commission – The marching orders of the L-rd!  But, in order to fulfill the the Great commission, we ourselves have to be Talmidim.  Being a Talmidim requires commitment and sacrifice:

Luke 14:25

Large crowds were traveling along with Yeshua. Turning, he said to them, 26  “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father, his mother, his wife, his children, his brothers and his sisters, yes, and his own life besides, he cannot be my talmid. 27 Whoever does not carry his own execution-stake and come after me cannot be my talmid.

28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Don’t you sit down and estimate the cost, to see if you have enough capital to complete it? 29 If you don’t, then when you have laid the foundation but can’t finish, all the onlookers start making fun of you 30 and say, ‘This is the man who began to build, but couldn’t finish!’

33 “So every one of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has cannot be my talmid. 34 Salt is excellent. But if even the salt becomes tasteless, what can be used to season it? 35 It is fit for neither soil nor manure — people throw it out. Those who have ears that can hear, let them hear!”

Being Messiah’s Talmid (Disciple), counting the cost

What does G-d require of a Disciple:

Giving of:

Time,

Talent,

Treasure

Heart.

Time – We are all given 168 hours per week, of that we spend (average):

*     56 hours sleeping

*     56+ hours working

*     5+ hours commuting

*     14 hours watching TV

How much time do we spend with G-d?

Priorities – Can you really be His disciple without giving Him time?

Does a tithe include time also?  If so, we should give G-d a minimum of  11.2 to 16.8 hours per week.

How should we spend time with G-d?

*     Study - Daily

*     Worship – individual & corporate

*     Prayer - Daily

*     Service

*     Rest (Shabbat)
